More than 130 suspects – including a former police officer and five teachers – were arrested in a crackdown on online child sex offenders, as UK law enforcement asks the tech industry to increase their help eradicating preventable offending.

The action plan is being developed in response to a survey by UNISON that uncovered the extent of sexual harassment against police staff. Half (49%) of the police staff questioned had heard sexualised jokes told repeatedly at work, and one in five (19%) had received a sexually explicit email or text from a colleague.

Police and clubs give stewards information to help deter terrorism

Members of Parliament from across England and Wales have been invited by their local police forces to give a day to policing during the summer parliamentary recess.  Around 100 MPs are confirmed as taking part so far.

Police chiefs gathered in London for July Chief Constables Council at a busy time for policing across the country.  The US President’s arrival was imminent and forces were working together to support the significant national operation.  The operation went smoothly thanks to the gold commanders, the National Police Coordination Centre and the many officers who travelled from around the country – in many cases delaying their rest days to support the national effort. 

All chief constables have committed to improving the work dedicated to tackling rural and wildlife crime, using partnership working and new insight provided by the National Rural Crime Survey.

Today the ONS have published their quarterly crime statistics. Latest police recorded crime figures show an 11 per cent increase overall with rises in knife crime, robbery, burglary and vehicle-related crime.
