More than 130 suspects – including a former police officer and five teachers – were arrested in a crackdown on online child sex offenders, as UK law enforcement asks the tech industry to increase their help eradicating preventable offending.
The action plan is being developed in response to a survey by UNISON that uncovered the extent of sexual harassment against police staff. Half (49%) of the police staff questioned had heard sexualised jokes told repeatedly at work, and one in five (19%) had received a sexually explicit email or text from a colleague.
Members of Parliament from across England and Wales have been invited by their local police forces to give a day to policing during the summer parliamentary recess. Around 100 MPs are confirmed as taking part so far.
