National Police Chiefs' Council Chair Sara Thornton said

"We are reviewing the way specialist capabilities such as firearms, surveillance, roads policing and major investigations are delivered.  Our aim is to ensure that specialist resources, are working to the same high standards as part of a network so we can respond with agility to the threats we face at a cost we can afford.  This review is not complete but there are no plans to remove resources which need to be locally based into remote regional hubs."
