This is the speech delivered by NPCC chair Martin Hewitt at the APCC & NPCC Partnership Summit on Wednesday 9th November 2022. The theme of the Summit was 'Cutting Crime, Building Confidence'.

The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) and College of Policing have today published a review of themes, learnings and recommendations on police-perpetrated violence against women and girls.  

Police chiefs welcome the certainty provided to policing by the multi-year settlement, and will work closely with the Home Office and partners in the run up to the police pay review process

Officer safety training to be overhauled and every police chief to review the equipment available to the frontline, following the findings of a review and safety survey commissioned by the NPCC and College of Policing last year.
