UK police and border security have signed a new agreement with US counterparts to share intelligence about female genital mutilation (FGM) and are joining together in operations at UK and US airports.

We will work with the Government to ensure we retain our ability to work closely and at speed with European countries to keep people in the UK safe.

As the debate continues on the EU referendum, the NPCC, the operational coordination body for policing, says that police have a clear operational requirement to cooperate closely with European countries but it is for others to determine the political arrangements to achieve this.

UK police officers will be supporting the Guardia Civil in the tourist hubs of Magaluf and San Antonio in the Balearic Islands during a two week trial this month.
