National Police Chief’s Council Lead on New Psychoactive Substances, Commander Simon Bray said:
"As police officers, our job is to enforce the law and protect the public. Changes to legislation and how they are implemented are a matter for Parliament.
"Any legislation on psychoactive substances will be policed in a practical and proportionate manner. Forces continue to support education around new psychoactive substances and will communicate with suppliers before any ban is implemented.
"The digital world has transformed the availability and threat of harmful drugs and we must adapt to these challenges. We are committed to reducing the harm caused by all drugs but we cannot do this alone; prevention, education and health services all have a crucial role to play.”
