National Police Chiefs' Council Lead for Child Protection, Chief Constable Simon Bailey responds to a report made by the IPCC following the Surrey Police investigation of the murder of Breck Bednar who was groomed online.
National Police Chiefs' Council Lead for Child Protection, Chief Constable Simon Bailey said: “All the changes we have made in the way police deal with child abuse - specialist training of officers, a victim-centred focus, a proactive approach working closely with other agencies and support groups - have emerged from looking at ourselves and realising that we can do things better. We are committed to continuing to learn lessons and improve how we deal with abuse involving children. I will work with the College of Policing to share best practice in handling grooming cases."
