NPCC tribute to Baroness Helen Newlove following news of death

Chief Constable Gavin Stephens, Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, said:

"Colleagues across UK policing are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Baroness Newlove.

"Up until recent weeks, Helen had been supporting the National Police Chiefs’ Council on victim support in relation to national investigations and has been widely admired by colleagues for her dignified, persuasive and effective approach to changing national policy and practice.

"A committed advocate for victims, she was a true critical friend, who told you home truths in a way that compelled you to take action.

"Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues."
