Commenting on the trial of six individuals charged in relation to an incident at Elbit Systems in August 2024, which concluded on Wednesday (4 February).
Chief Constable Gavin Stephens, chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, said:
"UK policing is disappointed that the jury in this case could not reach verdicts in relation to an alleged serious assault against a police officer.
“Brave officers run towards danger every day, with only one intention, to keep the public safe. They do this without fear or favour, and often without any thought for their own safety.
“The officer in this case continues to live with the impact of the injuries she sustained during this incident and it is vital that we recognise the courage she has shown since.
“I know that police officers and staff across the UK are thinking of our colleague who was injured in this incident and we want to make it clear she has our full support.
“It is important to note that reporting restrictions remain in place around this case, and on behalf of policing I’d like to thank the media for their diligence in this."
