ACPO comment on forced marriage and the 'Right to Choose' campaign

ACPO lead on forced marriage Commander Mak Chishty said:

“The decision to make forced marriage a criminal offence is fitting and sends out a clear warning to offenders. We would like to reassure them that their needs are at the heart of our concerns and together with other public service and volunteer partners we will do all within our power to ensure their safety. As a service our knowledge and experience in dealing with forced marriage offences have enhanced considerably, enabling us to understand the needs of each case and provide an individual response.”
